The Intermec Snap-on Common Access Card (CAC) Reader permits a CN70/CN70e/CK71 to utilize PKI authentication. This feature is required by the DPAS Warehouse Management Module.
If the Intermec PDCD is a “batch” device (no wireless connectivity), this device is the only way to interface with the DPAS Warehouse Management Module.
It allows the CAC to be inserted into the Reader and still connect to the PC. With the proper charging station, the Reader may be attached to the PDCD when charging in the cradle or via a USB cable.
If purchasing an Intermec PDCD from the AIT-V contract, the Snap-on CAC Reader is an available option at no additional cost (versus choosing an Apriva Bluetooth® Smart Card Reader).
