V8 Supercars chief executive Sean Seamer said a new television deal with Foxtel and Seven, worth $200 million over five years, would help secure its future as it prepares for its next generation. Supercars has locked in V8 power for what it calls its Gen3 regulations, with the engine’s double-overhead-cam technology helping the series meet a desire to cut costs by around 30-40 per cent per car. Currently, a two-car team can spend upward of $500,000 in building, maintaining and developing engines each season. The V8 engine format will remain and Supercars is also considering bringing in a Supercars-branded engine option in a bid to encourage more brands to enter the sport by removing some of the. SSC, or as it was once known, Shelby Supercars, built and produced the SSC Ultimate Aero TT for seven years (2006 to 2013). The Aero TT was a rear-mid engine supercar that held the Guinness World Record from 2007 to 2010 as the fastest production car with a 256.18 mph top speed.
